How To Make a Tax Payment to the IRS

- Please make sure to choose the correct year. If the payment is made to the wrong year it is very difficult to get the IRS to make the change to the correct year. (This usually takes numerous phone calls to the IRS and it isn’t always successful).
- If you are filing “Married Filing Jointly” then make sure to use the taxpayer information.
Balance Due on the Previous Calendar Years Taxes

- “Tax Year for Verification” may not be up to date in their system. It is best to select the year of the second to last tax return filed. (For example, if your last filed tax return was 2023 then you would select 2022 or a prior year).
- The information must match exactly as it is written on your tax return. (For example, if the apartment number is written with the street address then it should NOT be written in the separate box asking for “Apt/Suite/Other”.)
- Country of Residence refers to your mailing address.
